Draft Master Plan for Ireland Park Liverpool

Overview

Liverpool City Council (Council) has prepared a draft Master Plan to upgrade Ireland Park, Liverpool.

About Ireland Park

Ireland Park is located on the southern side of Cabramatta Creek and is framed by the creek parkland with residential dwellings to the south. Vehicular access is from Memorial Avenue along a single driveway with 70 car spaces. Pedestrian access is from a number of sides that connect to surrounding suburbs and the creek parkland walking track.

The park currently accommodates a sports field, car park, amenities block, toilets and change rooms.

The site and facilities are currently used as a training ground by the Liverpool Rangers Soccer Club (LRSC) and for a range of sports including cricket, football and rugby. In addition, Ireland Park is used recreationally by residents and the greater community for passive open space.

Draft Master Plan

What will the draft Master Plan achieve?

The overriding objective of the draft Master Plan is to:

  • Upgrade existing aging infrastructure to better serve long term users;
  • While addressing changing community needs by creating new, diverse facilities to maximise use of the park by the wider community.

What is proposed?

The draft Master Plan provides a holistic vision for the future of the park that will deliver improved facilities and amenities for the local community. It was developed following consultation with key stakeholders to understand user needs.

The draft Master Plan will allow Council to upgrade the park in stages, as funding becomes available. If plans proceed without impediment, construction is expected to begin by 2028.

The draft Master Plan includes:

  • Construction of spectator pavilion including tiered seating, new change room facilities and community room;
  • Redevelopment of Field 3 to showcase grass playing surface;
  • Extension of car park area;
  • Concrete pathways connecting the car park to the sports fields and pavilion;
  • Upgraded playing field grass surfaces - Fields 1 and 2
  • Children’s play space in Stage 3;
  • Off-leash dog park in Stage 3;
  • New fencing; and
  • Flood lighting upgrade.
