Overview
Council is undertaking a review and update of the Liverpool Heritage Study which was first prepared in 1992 and revised in 2005.
The study was initially prepared to highlight the dominant themes in the history of Liverpool and to document potential heritage items in a comprehensive inventory.
The Liverpool Local Government Area (LGA) has experienced substantial growth and change since the study was last reviewed in 2005. This update is necessary to ensure we retain and celebrate the unique character of the Liverpool LGA, and maintain appropriate heritage protection, while allowing ongoing sustainable development.
As a part of this new Liverpool Comprehensive Heritage Study, Council is sought community feedback on two important documents:
These two documents help us understand the events, factors, processes, and forces that have influenced and shaped our LGA over time. With the help of the community, we have finalised both documents.
They are available below for the community to read and learn about the history of Liverpool LGA and what has shaped us.
Council is also seeking community input for the nomination of potential heritage items or places deemed to hold local significance.
