Liverpool City Council is pleased to advise that planning has commenced for the development of Local Park 2 located on Sixth Avenue in Austral.
The project aims to create new recreational facilities for the enjoyment of the local community. The proposed works will include a new children’s playground with softfall rubber surface, an outdoor fitness gym, concrete footpath connections, installation of new park furniture and landscape enhancements.

Final Concept Plan - Local Park 2 in Austral
Community consultation on the Draft Concept Plan of Local Park 2 on Haybale Street in Austral has closed on 26 April 2026. Liverpool Council would like to thank you for participating in the community consultation and for providing valuable feedback throughout the process.
Overall, the feedback received was positive, with strong support for the proposed children’s playground and landscape improvements within Local Park 2. In response to community comments, several amendments have been incorporated into the design, including additional play equipment, shade sail structure, and improved passive surveillance through the realignment of tree planting. Council will now progress to the next stage of the project, with construction of the Stage 1 play space scheduled to commence in mid-May 2026. Following this, detailed design documentation for Stage 2 will be prepared, and procurement for the associated construction works will be undertaken.
