Intermodal development sites are not affected by flooding from the Georges River or Anzac Creek. While the sites are not affected by flooding, the development will generate significant volume of increased runoff and peak flows.
To mitigate adverse impacts of increased flow and to limit the peak flow to pre-development level, Council requires Intermodal Development to provide adequate on-site detention (OSD). The Water Management Strategy for the development proposed to construct series of onsite flood detention basins (OSD) to mitigate adverse impact of this anticipated increased flow.

Liverpool City Council has participated in the NSW Arbovirus Surveillance and Mosquito Monitoring Program that was initiated by the NSW Department of Health in 2019/2020 season. Two treatments of Bacillus Thuringiensis Israelensis (BTI) were applied to wetland areas in Lieutenant Cantello Reserve when mosquito larvae numbers were high. BTI is eaten by the mosquito larvae, the BTI produces toxins that kill the insects. These treatments were very successful and Mosquito numbers in the Liverpool Local Government Area were low for the 2019/2020 season as compared to other Local Government Areas along the Georges River. Liverpool City Council will continue to collaborate with NSW Health and be an active participant in the NSW Arbovirus Surveillance and Mosquito Monitoring Program and under the guidance and expertise of NSW Health will carry out further BTI treatments when conditions are favourable for the 2020/2021 season.
The Police will be requested to include sections of Wattle Grove Drive, Austrais Avenue and Delfin Drive in their speed enforcement.
Council has adopted the Georges River Risk Management Study and Plan (FRMP) in 2004. Comprehensive flood risk assessment associated with existing and potential future developments on the floodplain of the Georges River was undertaken for the preparation of the FRMP. To mitigate adverse impacts of flooding, the FRMP has recommended a range of flood mitigation measures. Subsequently, council has adopted the recommendations through the provisions of Development Control Plan (DCP) and Liverpool Local Environmental Plan (LLEP). Future developments on the floodplain are assessed on its merits and appropriate flood mitigation measures are incorporated to ensure safety of properties, occupants and the community.
