Draft Recreation, Open Space and Sports Strategy

Places for People

Council last formulated a recreation strategy back in 2003. Since then, Liverpool has experienced significant population growth and, over the next 10 years, will experience further transformative change in the areas of economic development, population growth, infrastructure development and social make-up.

The new strategy seeks to build on the best of the past and to plan for future needs of a diverse and growing population. It sets out Council’s thinking in three critical areas:

· Recreational activities

· Open space

· Strengthening the local sports sector

The strategy identifies current trends and strategic issues, details a new classification system for open space and recreational facilities and sets out core principles to inform future decision-making processes. Ten ‘big ideas’ are also put forward to illustrate how the principles outlined in the strategy could be operationalised.

Council resolved to place on public exhibition the Draft Recreation, Open Space and Sports Strategy. This strategy will be on exhibition until 15 December 2017, for the purpose of obtaining community feedback. Please take our survey below.

Alternatively, you can send us a submission addressed to the Chief Executive Officer, quoting 2017/3551, and either post it to Locked Bag 7064 Liverpool BC NSW 1871 or email it to lcc@liverpool.nsw.gov.au.

We welcome your feedback on the draft strategy.
